Message from Director

 

"Towards 2017 and the Challenges of Global Environmental Problems"

 

ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) has been established in 2015 as a major milestone in the regional economic integration agenda, offering opportunities in the form of a huge market in ASEAN. It opens a gateway to access to the global competition. This could also become a new beginning for the center of technology for environmental (PTL) to solve the challenges in innovation and technology services. As an organization, PTL has human resources with high-level competencies that will always constantly strive to bring the innovations in the field of environmental technology. The big asset of human resources could give a real contribution to the assesment and application of the environment technology in Indonesia. As a new chapter in the era of reformation, changing in the quality and performance of PTL into a better direction is expected to be realized through accelerated technological innovation that is supported by the spirit of all the changes in human resources.

 

Strategic policies of PTL in order to enhance the performance can be devided into four pillars, as follows:

  1. Setting the annual action plans by applying the principle of product optimization, including the efficiency of pre-annual activities and management control of funding and running activities.

  2. Improving human resources in accordance with the direction and course of environmental technolog, with the hope of encouraging the establishment of innovation to be more optimal.

  3. Refocusing engineering innovation activities in accordance with the strategic plan 2016-2020.

  4. Strengthening the dissemination and application of environmental technologies to the national development through cooperative research, development and application of technology with various partners.

Synergizing between those factors is expected to be able to create improved quality of innovation in the field of environmental technology. In the coming years, to face of the demands of the times and increasingly rapid technological development, PTL will continue to increase the competence of human resources and innovation products. In addition, PTL will continue to support the government's policies through the assessment and application of environmental technologies.

Vision and Mission :

 

Vision : "The Center of leading Technology which prioritizing innovation and technology services to achieve national independence, increased competitiveness and improvement of public services"

 

Mission : "To carry out an assessment and application of technologies in the field of environmental to produce innovation and technology services"

 

Task and Function :

 

According to BPPT’s Chairman Regulation No. 009/2015, On the BPPT’s Organization and Work Procedure dated October 27, 2015, in Chapter VI, article 116 and article 117 states that:

 

Main task:

  • To carry out assessment and application in the field of environmental technology

Function:

  • Carrying out the assessment and application of technologies on the environmental pollution control;

  • Carrying out the assessment and application of technologies on the conservation and restoration of environmental quality;

  • Carrying out the assessment and application on the environmental governance;

  • Preparing of the materials policy formulation for environmental technologies; and

  • Implementing of the planning, monitoring, and evaluation of programs and budgets.

Human Resources :

 

Environmental Technology Centre has a number of personnel consist of 74 people with the composition of employees based on educational background, as follows:

  • Doctoral: 8

  • Magister: 25

  • Bachelor: 31

  • Technician: 4

Product Technologies :

  1. Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). The plant is used to treat wastewater coming out of BPPT office. In the future, this prototype will be used as a pilot for the other offices to conduct waste water treatment.

  2. The 3Rs of waste management. This prototype is used for managing organic waste, leaves into compost. It is also used for sorting various types of waste and as a model for the broader community in waste management.

  3. Prototype unit of CO2 absorption by Microalgae. Currently installed at BPPT office as an action to mitigate climate change and as a pilot in reducing CO2 in industrial or in the neighborhood.

  4. Prototype of direct tap water processing. This is an example of how to solve the problem of drinking water in the area is the quality of water crisis.

  5. The dry and wet laboratories workshop which are used to carry out R & D activities and environmental engineering.

  6. The data center to manage PTL web information site, water resource database, technology database and database environment online monitoring of water quality.
